After an almighty last event in Victoria Park which saw 500 music heads descend on their circus themed marquee the Southport Disco Festival crew are back at their winter home of Bliss (Waterfront) Hotel on Sat 26th Nov for an afternoon and evening of all things House & Disco.
Southport's biggest disco & house music night goes from strength to strength and in recent months they've had the likes of Graeme Park, Lisa Millet, Alison Limerick, K-Klass perform for them as well as loads of local talent. SDF returns to Bliss Hotel on 26th November, doors are open 2pm-11pm and there will be a special after party announced on the night for all those who attend.
So whose on the line up....
ANDY CARROLL is a well seasoned veteran on the music scene and was working the decks before people truly knew what mixing was about . He's a house music pioneer who was mixing it up with the other cool dance-floor sounds of the day ( some called it a Balearic thing ? ) way back in 1986 . He has pioneered many great nights in his home city of Liverpool including the legendary super club Cream where he is one of 3 founders . Throughout the years Andy was also resident at Cream Liverpool , travelling the globe and then bringing the night to the island of Ibiza . Andy Carroll has been a resident for 24 summers in the Balearic Island of Ibiza working with Jose Padilla @ Cafe del Mar ( early years) , Cream , Manumission , Ibiza Rocks and We Love @ Space .
He was also resident for a two summers with Idris Elba at the legendary Pike's Hotel as well as doing various other gigs there with DJ Harvey and was also resident for Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto classics sessions . Andy has also enjoyed working with a cause close to his heart with Greenpeace @ Glastonbury and has headlined a night for the previous 2 events . This year sees a return to Greenpeace , The beautiful Mhor Festival , Cream Classical in The Park , Lovebox, Creamfields and numerous other festivals . A favourite thing for Andy to do musically is mix up as many genres as possible to include House ,Disco and funky stuff in the true Balearic style , a skill not so many can do ~ Catch him if you can !
Southport Disco Festival also welcome back DEREK KAYE, his sets have been legendary at festivals across the country, he blew a hole in the canvass roof of the marquee in Victoria Park at SDF 1 last summer and we cant wait to hear him again this month. His sets are a feel good combination of original disco and modern day disco edits, he never disappoints.
Keeping the disco edits and house classics coming at Southport Disco Festival will be CONAN THE SELECTOR from HOT GORILLA RECORDS. No stranger to the festival scene, Conan has also been busy this festival season playing up and down the UK and recently went on tour with The Brand New Heavies as their official support act. CONAN THE SELECTOR is the alias of local DJ & musician Mark Pickup who several decades ago was resident at such Southport venues as Club Code, Bar Non, Zebra Square to name a small few.
Since then and under several alias's Mark has gone on to perform all over the world and played alongside some of the biggest names in the business including Nile Rogers & Chic, Jamiroquai, The Gorillaz, Faithless, The Prodigy, Disclosure as well as released tracks on such labels as Toolroom, D-Vine, Sony Music ME, King Street Sounds, Trax Records and is also the organiser of The Southport Disco Festival.
Keeping on a disco vibe, next up is PLATINUM CITY (Jaegerossa) and SUKI SOUL who will be performing live, they've both just got back from ADE where they smashed it out the ball park with their live set and we cant wait to finally hear SUKI SOUL Perform in Southport.
Nick Hussey Has been producing Tracks from the early 90's His early success as half of remix team "Foundation" saw him hit No1 in the dance charts with the Foundation mix of Everythings gonna be alright by Sounds of Blackness and the again with Lisa Moorish - Just the way it is.Nick then had another No1 with his remix of Jodeci's Wont waste you and then Chante Moore's Free on MCA records.Nick was also the producer behind the Luvdup remixs in the early 90's.Fast forward to the present day Nick is signed to Defected Records,CR2,Kaluki Music,Trios Garcon amongst others.
Nick is also part of the team running The Day & Night Project label. Nick has tracks coming out in the very near future with Steve Edwards, Abigail Bailey, Alexis Hall, Erire amongst others
Bringing some house vibes to the event will be CAMILLE CEE, a regular now on the Soulful House scene and regular at the legendary Southport Weekender parties, Camille has in a small space of time gained massive ground, knows how to rock a dancefloor and is certainly one to watch for the future.
Ex Glasshouse resident PEPPE will be playing a vinyl only house classics set, its been awhile since we saw PEPPE behind the decks so its going to be great to go back in time with some carefully selected vinyl.
